3 Advanced Parking Modes

The A139 Pro supports 3 parking modes.

  • Auto Event Detection automatically starts recording when events are detected.
  • Time Lapse records video continuously at low frames rates to reduce recording size.
  • Low Bitrate Mode continues recording audio and video normally in parking mode, except for using a high compression ratio which allows extended recording times, for example, overnight recording without overwriting the recordings from the previous day.

Very Good Dash Cam That Needs Improvements

Overall, a very good camera. Good quality video (although not a significant improvement over my A129 Pro. Hopefully a firmware upgrade improves the quality). And the A139 has good voice prompts.

But a 1080p rear camera is inexcusable and complacent in 2022/2023 (Thinkware’s new U3000 has a 2K rear camera). There also needs to be better solution than the current WiFi method to connect the A139 to the phone app; sometimes when connected it blocks cellular data. For example, sometimes it prevents you from making phone calls or using certain apps like Google Maps—very inconvenient.

The app also needs improvements. It has lost/erased some of my settings a couple times, and the time stamp on the thumbnails for the video files doesn’t match the time stamp in the actual videos.

Hopefully there's a cloud version of the dash cam in the future.

In terms of shipping, BlackBoxMyCar unfortunately uses only FedEx for shipments to the U.S. FedEX is the worst shipper in the U.S., with terrible customer service.

Great Dash Cam and Service

I really like the Viofo A139 Pro dash cam that I got from Blackbox. The service I got from BlackboxMyCar was great. I forgot to claim the discount I was offered when I ordered. No problem, the company refunded the difference to my credit card after a quick call.
