What is the BlackVue Power Magic Pro (PMP)?

What is the BlackVue Power Magic Pro?
The BlackVue Power Magic Pro (PMP) is the hardwire kit for all BlackVue dash cams, used to help you install your BlackVue dash cam into your vehicle. This hardwire kit is connected to the vehicle’s fusebox, enabling the dash cam to receive power even when the vehicle is off and thus also offers parking-mode recording.
The Power Magic Pro has 3 wires that need to be connected - one wire attaches to a constant fuse, another wire attaches to an ignition-switched fuse and the last wire attaches to a ground bolt. Once this is hardwired correctly, the voltage and timer cutoff settings can be adjusted on the tabs located on the Power Magic Pro - we have included a diagram of this below:
Configuring Your Power Magic Pro (PMP)
The 12V range is for regular vehicles while the 24V range is for heavy duty commercial trucks with bigger batteries.
When the vehicle is on, power is sent to the Power Magic Pro from both the constant and ignition-switched fuses. When the vehicle is off, only the constant fuse supplies power to the Power Magic Pro, which then signifies the dash cam to enter parking-mode recording. The risk of a dead vehicle battery is eliminated as the Power Magic Pro has voltage cutoff protection, so this setup is perfectly fine to use.
Check out our full installation guide below to show you how to install your Power Magic Pro directly into your vehicle.
Constant Power for Parking Mode
With the BlackVue Power Magic Pro, the average vehicle will be able to supply about 6-8 hours of parking-mode duration (this number is solely dependent on the battery’s size, condition, etc.) before the voltage cutoff kicks in.
For those who want much longer parking-mode - up to 30 hours - check out our dash cam battery packs.
