VIOFO A229 Duo 2K Front and Rear Dash Cam

The original VIOFO A229 Duo records 2K video at 30FPS from the front and rear cameras. Choose it for balanced road coverage with a 2.4-inch screen, GPS mount and local dual-band Wi-Fi. A microSD card and the HK4 parking hardwire kit are sold separately.

2K recording in both directions

Both cameras record 2560 × 1440 at 30FPS. This is the original A229 Duo, not the A229 Plus or Pro. Its rear camera looks through the rear window, giving a second road view rather than infrared cabin coverage.

GPS and on-camera setup

Use the 2.4-inch screen to aim the camera and adjust settings. The supplied GPS mount records speed and location when it has a satellite signal. Nearby 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi connects the VIOFO app for local settings and downloads, not remote Cloud viewing.

Choose one parking recording mode

Auto Event Detection saves detected activity with a buffer; time lapse records fewer frames, and low bitrate keeps a continuous record in smaller files. Use a supported maintained power installation and check its battery-protection settings. See our parking-mode guide to compare the choices.

Connect parking power through the GPS mount

The optional HK4 provides constant power and an ignition signal through the GPS mount’s USB-C power port. The supplied Type-C data cable is for file access, not driving power. Route the included 6m coaxial rear cable safely and check both views before securing the wiring.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the A229 Plus or Pro?

No. This is the original A229 Duo with 2K front and rear recording at 30FPS. Use the exact original Duo firmware and manual; do not install Plus, Pro, Ultra or Tele firmware.

Does it include GPS?

Yes. The GPS mount records location, speed and time with a satellite signal. It does not transmit the vehicle’s location remotely.

Which hardwire kit should I use?

Use the optional VIOFO HK4 through the GPS mount’s USB-C power input. Connect and configure it correctly for the vehicle before relying on automatic parking switching.

Is the supplied Type-C data cable a power cable?

No. Use the supplied vehicle power connection for driving, or a supported parking installation. The data cable is for file access.

Can I use an A139 rear cable?

No. The manufacturer lists the A229 Duo’s supplied rear cable as 6m coaxial and says it is not the same as the A139 cable. Match the exact camera before buying a replacement.

Is a memory card included?

No. Choose a compatible high-endurance microSD card up to 256GB, format it in the camera and copy important clips to another device before loop overwrite or formatting.
