How is the ARC900's parking mode powered?
The ARC900's parking mode requires constant power, which is provided by the included hardwiring cable. This cable connects to your vehicle's fuse panel and has a voltage cutoff system to prevent draining your car's battery. For professional help, explore our dash cam installation services.
Do I need a battery pack for parking mode?
While not required, a dash cam battery pack like the BlackboxMyCar PowerCell 8 is highly recommended for extended parking surveillance. It powers the dash cam independently, so it doesn't use your car's battery at all, which is ideal for long parking sessions.
What size microSD card should I use?
The ARC900 supports microSD cards up to 512GB. We recommend using a high-endurance card designed for dash cams, as they are built to withstand constant rewriting. A larger card will allow you to store more footage before it is looped over.
Is the ARC900 difficult to install?
The ARC900 is designed for a straightforward DIY installation, and our installation gallery shows how cleanly it fits in many vehicles. However, if you are not comfortable working with your vehicle's electronics, we always recommend a professional installation. You can contact us for assistance.
Can I switch the front camera to 2K QHD @ 60FPS?
Yes. The front camera can be set to record at 2K QHD @ 60FPS, which provides smoother video and better motion handling. The rear camera will record at 2K QHD @ 30FPS in this configuration.
Does this dash cam have Cloud features?
No, the Thinkware ARC900 does not have native cloud features. Its connectivity is focused on direct Wi-Fi access via the Thinkware Dash Cam Link app. For a fully cloud-connected experience with features like remote live view and impact alerts, consider the Thinkware U3000 Pro, which includes Thinkware Connected.
