EXT Port: To connect an external GPS (useful in cases where there is a heat reflective film or heated front windscreen that may screen the GPS signal from the camera)

The Thinkware Hardwiring Kit may be purchased separately if hardwiring is preferred. A Spliced Thinkware Hardwire Kit is required if you are connecting to a dash cam battery pack, which will be provided by default if purchased bundled with the U300, but will otherwise need to be purchased seperately. You can also choose the IROAD OBD cable, which is fully compatible.

Thinkware OBD Compatibility

The Thinkware OBDII cable has been updated to a new version, which has been found to be compatible with nearly all vehicles (except Tesla). EVs, Hybrids, and standard Gas vehicles are all compatible with the Thinkware OBD cable.

Best dash cam, hands down!

I'm a diehard Thinkware fan. I owned the U1000 prior to this. When it comes to heat tolerance, Thinkware has no rival. The new technology and configuration of the case in the U3000 makes it superior to the U1000 which was already excellent.
The built-in radar is also a step up. You don't have to buy a separate radar unit. The detection is excellent.
I turned off the driver assistance options since my car already has the option.
The CPL filter works well when it comes to filtering dashboard selections and glare from oncoming traffic at night.
OBD2 power works well in parking mode. You need to get an OBD2 adapter so that you can share the port with other applications to avoid disruption during parking mode.
As for the picture quality, the Sony Starvis2 technology is pretty impressive. So far I like the image quality and clarity.
