[STAGING] [REFURBISHED] VIOFO A129 Plus Duo 2K QHD 2-Channel Dash Cam with GPS

This is my third Dash camera. It is the one I like best of all.
Picture is clear and mounting is easy (mounted in SUV- plenty of wire). Connection to phone is super easy and phone of course gives much beter picture.
Annoying -- when monted the screen is tilted upward making it hard to view.
It is difficult to see control buttons.
Solutions: I put small stickers near each button
I put a foam surround around the camera which makes the
screen easir to see.
Recommendations for manufacturer - Screen need to tild down and screen needs to be brighter or supply some type of surround for screen

After days of reviewing and researching the most cost-effective camera in the market, the clear winner to me is the A129 plus duo!

Setup was straightforward and I was able to hide the wires by just watching youtube videos.

I was taking into account the constant use of the dash cam in different weather situations, especially in the great north and the A129 plus duo is the perfect balance of everything you will need until 4K has become more stable and technology improves.

Reason to avoid the 4k is that it is not stable as there are lots of reports of overheating. You can easily look at the used market and there are SEVERAL returns of the 4K cameras.

Let’s face it, we want to get the clearest possible image and video quality but at this day and age, the technology is still at its infancy stage. 2K would be enough for most situations.

BBMC was very communicative since ordering through their emails and the price was reasonable. I would definitely not hesitate to buy again from them.

Best part was it came with the updated firmware already installed!

Pretty happy with this thing so far. The video quality is solid, definitely more than enough for a dashcam. My only complaint is that the app isn't very good, you have to manually go through the wifi connection each time you want to connect to your phone. It has all the functions you need but it could be a lot snappier and easier to use.

After watching many you-tube reviews, and reading and comparing, seeing the side-by-side comparison on you-tube was the final push to purchase the more economically priced, Viofo. Was received in a very professional box and internal packaging, was so well put together I am still impressed. I did purchase the additional wiring kit to hard-wire into my vehicle. Everything was there, and works well. After using for a few weeks now, no real issues other than trying to connect via WiFi. After some searching, discovered others suggesting completely turning off mobile on my phone data prior to connecting via WiFi...this definitely solves the connectivity issue (not sure why, it is inconvenient, but it works). Other than that, my biggest gripe is trying to get the MicroSD card in/out with fat fingers, thankfully the unit is easy to remove from the GPS mount, which makes that much easier. Apparently Chevy has also removed switched power from the driver side fuse panel on most Silverados, so again, after some searching, I found a forum that provided an alternative switched supply close to that area where I was able to splice into a wire and put an inline fuse in that way.

Overall very pleased I went with this unit and saved some $$ and got great picture! Will probably purchase another for other vehicle in the near future.

BBMC provides excellent “how to” videos about their quality products. I consider their prices fair, and they ship fast. What makes them stand out however is that they encourage technically challenged prospective buyers like me to contact them with questions. Dash cams can be confusing but knowing that Blackbox is only a phone call or email away has been comforting and appreciated. I just bought my second dash cam bundle from them. If they can continue to bear the cost of providing such comprehensive support, I suspect there will be no limit to their growth.

Be sure to buy a fuse tap for 24/7 parking recording and to hide the wire in your car. Great kit with all the cable management clips you need. Measure your spare fuse size and compare online for the right fuse size. New hondas have a low profile mini fuse tap size. Plug into your battery (reclining seat works) and accessory fuse for a good time. Good luck!

It's been almost a week since I install the dash camera, so far it's best dash camera on the market, also for those who are buying the dash camera for the first time they will love it. It has a great parking mode. And the great customer service.

Decent price for 4K dash cam. The quality for both front 4K and rear FHD are excellent during the day and night. Nice upgrade from Blackvue DR650GW 2ch that I got for my other vehicle 5 years ago from Alex. The WIFI and GPS works great. I can actually connect it to a tablet and use it as a rear view mirror. However, I notice the "rear camera mirror" view setting is not very consistent. It won't stay that view all the time. It will switch back on it's own. At first, I thought it was the app. Then I tried setting it manually with the dash cam. It worked for a couple days but then it switched back on it's own again. Not sure if this is a common issue but hope it's an easy fix. The GPS works with the tablet as well. I can actually use Google maps without internet connection. Huge bonus cuz I have this installed in my 2004 Honda Pilot that does not have GPS or Rear View Camera. I also purchased the essential kit to install the hardwire kit, which made it a lot easier. I did do some research and confirmed a couple things with Mark. Only thing that was miscommunicated was the fuse type that came with the essential kit. I received the fuse that was for a newer Honda instead for an older Honda. I should of double checked but they made an exception for exchange. Overall, my experience was pretty good but hope the rear camera mirror view setting will be resolved.

Overall, I was very happy with the purchase process and delivery of the my A129 Pro Duo + 3 Wire ACC Hardwire Kit + CPL Filter. The drop in one star has to do with just how thick the USB cable between the rear and front cameras. It's completely workable but the amount of effort it took to route it along the trim in my Civic 2019 was pretty brutal.

In addition to this camera, I bought the necessary fuse taps and with a little learning on BBMC + various youtube videos, I was able to hardwire the camera into my car fusebox on my first try in about 2 hours. I'm quite happy with the overall results. You can't see it but I was able to fit all of the wiring and tie it in place using plastic ties underneath the panel just to the left of the steering wheel.

Quality of the camera and the recordings line up with the reviews provided online. I was able to capture the license plates of a few cars of interest by doing a snapshot of the video and zooming in (takes a few tries sometimes due to blur). Definitely couldn't have pulled that off with my older 1080p dashcam.

A Youtube search for recent dashcam reviews led me to a couple by Alex. I liked what I learned about the Viofa A129 Pro and after some back and forth messages with Blackbox answering the few questions I had, I decided on it. The online purchase was smooth and the free shipment was fast. Installation of the hard wiring kit was straightforward with excellent instructions on the website. Customer service as a high priority is very apparent. I'm pleased with the camera's functionality and ease of use. Everything about this purchase has been totally satisfactory. Both the Viofo A129 Pro 4K and BlackboxMyCar get my big thumbs up.

The A229 has a bad microphone, this one is the best value for sure. Fair warning if you upgrade from the A129 Pro Duo - you have to swap the cable between the front and rear cameras. For some reason the cables and rear cameras are not compatible despite looking the same and having the same capabilities. Otherwise, easy upgrade and well worth it new! Image quality is fantastic

This unit works as advertised, easy install with provided pry tool to open interior trim seams.
The app works on phone fairly easily just wish it would auto connect each time when app launched rather than having to turn on WiFi on unit each time. It would be better to have a hidden SSID WiFi signal option after initial connection to it so the phone would connect knowing it's there.

Turns on automatically and is Easy to work so far. Totally worth it. Better to have and not need it than to need and not have. I like that I can plug the camera straight into my laptop.

I CALLED ABOUT A WEEK AGO ABOUT A SD CARD I BROUGHT FROM YOUR COMPANY. IT DOES NOT WORK ! I SENT A VIDEO HOW I PUT THE SD CARD IN MY P.C. IT WILL NOT OPEN UP DID YOUR COMPANY GET THE SD CARD VIDEO I SENT FROM MY PHONE ??? RIGHT NOW I AM USING ANOTHER SD CARD AND IT WORKS FINE. The camera does all that I need it to do and I'm happy with my purchase. However, like most technical products, its instruction manual could stand quite a bit more clarification.

Example: There's a setting for FPS but it's not clear if this setting applies to video recording or parking protection. In my case, this resulted in recording essentially time-lapse recordings while driving down the road.

I get that manufacturers don't want to print an encyclopedia-sized volume to include in the box, but initial impressions of their products could be greatly improved if users could make sense of how to configure.

Good quality camera, good mic, haven't had any issues. Just make sure you look up how to intall the hard wire kit if you're thinking about getting it. Might be more hassle than your planning. Other than that, solid and easy to install.

This camera is easy to use, has good video quality, decent audio quality, a sensible file system, seems to be pretty accurate with speed etc, and hides well behind a rear view mirror. I've been running with this camera for close to a year now and can't think of much to complain about. I don't use the wifi often but when I do, it's useful to have. Overall at this price, a very good camera set

we have took it out three times and reset it turn on it goes off or the front stays on then back goes off this is the second one we have had and NO problems out of the first one this one has something really wrong with it i will be calling to ask for a replacement so disappointed !
