Upgrading from the S to X Series

If you are thinking of upgrading to the new BlackVue X-series, you might we wondering if and how much of the existing BlackVue S-series setup you have in your vehicle can you keep.

Upgrading from 2-Channel S-series to 2-Channel X-Series

Rear Cameras: Existing rear cameras and connecting cables are compatible between the S and the X-series. If you currently have the Cellink NEO or the BlackVue Power Magic Battery Pack (B-124X) in your dash cam setup, you can simply hook them up to the new X-series.

Tamper-Proof Case: The S-series tamper-proof cases do not work on the X-series.

No More PMP: Previously with the S-series, you will need to use the Power Magic Pro (PMP) if you want to hardwire the dash cam to your vehicle for parking mode recording. With the new X-series, BlackVue has voltage monitor built into the dash cam, so you no longer need the PMP - all you need is the new 3-Wire Hardwiring Kit.

New CM100 LTE: Because this LTE-connectivity is a new technology that BlackVue is introducing with the X-Series, the S-Series dash cams will not have the hardware nor the port for the LTE module. In other words, you won't be able to simply plug the CM100 LTE module into the old DR900S.

Upgrading from 1-Channel S-series to 2-Channel X-Series

Rear Cameras: Do note that the S and the X-Series share one thing in common: the 1-Channel variants are designed and built to be single-channel dash cameras and are not expandable to 2-Channels. In other words, if you are planning on upgrading your 1-Channel S-Series to a 2-Channel X-Series, you will need to purchase the complete 2-channel X model.
