Really bad customer support experience

My new 970x Plus 2 Channel was never able to get a GPS signal since day one. The first interaction was pretty good, gave suggestions on what to try: flash firmware on PC, and outside of the car under clear sky to make sure it gets the best chance. And told me to report back if it didn't work, so I can get a replacement unit.

The second support agent (Luke) was a whole different story. He just kept telling me that I need to try cloud connections to get the GPS working, even though I mentioned that GPS isn't related to the cloud features. But I went with it just to get things moving. So I registered a free trial, connected the dashcam to the cloud, and of course it didn't fix the GPS issue. Then he started telling me that I need to use the SD card that came with the dashcam, because a third-party SD card can cause the GPS to not function.

I'm appalled by the lack of knowledge of this support agent. Sadly, since there is no review for the support agent included on the website, I have to leave the review here for the product.

Worth the money

I love my BlackVue dash cam. This is perfect to record all of my road trips, day to day driving. I am a fan of the app too.

Transitioning from the Thinkware U1000 to the Blackvue, I have found the application and cloud features to be significantly more advanced. Blackvue’s capabilities surpass those of Thinkware, allowing for remote 4K video downloads even when the camera is in parking mode. The push notifications and video previews triggered by impact detection are particularly impressive. The video quality is commendable, with no apparent focus issues that have been reported with other models.

However, I encountered a problem with a SanDisk High Endurance 512GB card, which may have been due to its not being formatted to FAT32. This issue caused the camera to repeatedly disconnect and reconnect from the cloud. Replacing the card with a 256GB High Endurance model resolved the connectivity problems.

While the camera performs exceptionally well in most conditions, it does struggle in extremely dark situations. Additionally, I purchased a CPL Filter for the LTE model and made a minor modification by removing the rubber gasket from the inter-lens, which was too tight. I secured the lens with VHB tape, resulting in a seamless installation. This is a straightforward modification for anyone interested in adding a CPL filter.

I did pair the camera with BBMC Power cell 8+. More for the fact that it allows for additional expansion batteries. The only disadvantage is that the battery doesn’t communicate with Blackvue’s application to show battery percentage via cloud. Something I was not aware of until after purchasing and watching multiple reviews of Blaclvue’s b130x battery.

The only reason I gave you 4 Stars is that connecting to the internet is extremely complicated, which it shouldn’t be . My son who has a Blackvue dashcam as well couldn’t figure it out as well. Took over 45 minutes with your tech team to solve the problems.

Excellent camera and excellent support staff

Got this camera and for an upgrade. Wanted something with LTE. Awesome dashcam video quality. One thing I don’t like that the wire for an external battery kit only uses the 2 wire vs the 3 wire of the Thinkware so parking mode won’t activate when the battery pack stops charging (when the car turns off). It waits for 5 minute of the car not moving then enters parking mode. Parking mode will only activate when car is turned off if you hardwire the camera to the fuse box vs the external battery pack.

Support staff was always readily available to help answer my small questions also. Love that they have direct texting for support (whether it be about your order or help with something while you install).
