The Sony STARVIS 2 IMX678 front camera records 4K at 30FPS or 2K at 60FPS. The included rear camera records 2K at 30FPS using a Sony STARVIS IMX335 sensor.

Super Night Vision 4.0, Wide Dynamic Range and automatic exposure help manage changing light. The included front CPL filter can reduce windshield reflections. Results still depend on lighting, movement and installation.

Nearby downloads and connected features

Use Thinkware Dash Cam Link over the camera’s dual-band Wi-Fi for nearby live view, clips and settings. Bluetooth assists pairing, and built-in GPS records location information.

Thinkware CONNECTED remote features need a separate powered Wi-Fi hotspot or internet network. The phone configuring the camera cannot also be its hotspot during setup. Data charges may apply; power and coverage affect availability. CONNECTED features are unavailable in Radar and Energy Saving parking modes. The phone image illustrates the service and may differ from the current app.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which cameras and radar coverage are included?

The kit includes the U3000 front camera and BCQH-500 rear camera. Both have radar for their respective parking views. The front uses STARVIS 2; the original rear uses STARVIS.

What do I need for parking recording?

The supplied OBD-II cable supports parking power in compatible vehicles. Review our OBD cable vehicle compatibility guide for your exact vehicle and cable before installation; the cigarette-lighter cable is intended for driving use. If you want a separate parking power reserve, consider our PowerCell 8 with the correct camera output. Set the cutoff and parking mode for your installation; runtime depends on power, activity and conditions.

Does every parking mode save footage before an impact?

No. Motion Detection saves a 20-second clip with 10 seconds before and after detected activity or impact. Radar wakes recording for a 20-second clip when movement or an impact is detected; it does not assure a pre-impact view. Energy Saving starts its clip after impact detection. Time Lapse records at 2FPS. Back up parking files before changing modes, which deletes earlier parking recordings.

Will the original U3000 use the U3000 Pro LTE module?

No. The original U3000 uses an internet-connected Wi-Fi hotspot for CONNECTED features and is not compatible with the plug-in LTE module. Select firmware and accessories for the original U3000, not the Pro.

Can I use a 512GB card?

The original U3000 supports compatible 64, 128 and 256GB UHS-I microSD cards. A 64GB card is included. The Pro model’s larger-card specification does not apply to this camera. Copy important footage elsewhere before formatting or loop overwriting.

What happens when the camera gets hot?

Smart Parking can reduce operation to impact-only recording. Thermal protection may stop recording. The operating range remains −10°C to 60°C; the supercapacitor is for shutdown support and does not power ongoing parking recording.

Which warranty and return terms apply?

We test each unit through our in-house 10-point functionality check. This kit has a 12-month BlackboxMyCar warranty and follows our normal warranty and returns policy.
