Separate battery input from camera output

The included input lead connects the battery to a suitable switched fuse-box circuit. The unspliced three-wire output then joins to your camera’s compatible Thinkware hardwiring cable. That camera cable is separate unless it came with your dash cam; check your kit before buying another.

Use the manufacturer’s wiring functions and charging-switch instructions. Red and green LEDs show charging status. Secure the pack in a dry, ventilated location with space for its connectors and clear of moving seat parts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a camera hardwiring cable as well?

Yes. The included battery input lead charges the pack from the vehicle; the unspliced output connects to the camera’s compatible hardwiring cable. Some camera kits already include that cable. Join the labelled constant/BATT, ACC and ground functions rather than assuming colours match between brands.

Can I charge it from a cigarette-lighter socket?

Thinkware supports a separate approved input cable used on LOW. That cable is not included in this hardwired package. The cigarette charging cable on our Battery Pack Replacement Cables listing does not fit the BAB-50; its generic ACC input cable also does not fit units with a raised lip around the input port. Check the exact pack and approved cable with us before ordering a replacement.

How long can it power a camera?

Thinkware’s product-page reference is up to 20 hours with a front camera, or 16 hours with a rear camera added. The actual time depends on camera load, settings, temperature and battery condition. It supplies power; the camera must support the parking mode you want.

Can I connect it directly to a 24V supply?

No. The specified input range is 12V to 15.5V. Have the installer check the vehicle supply and follow the manufacturer’s installation guide.

What do the LEDs mean?

Solid red indicates charging, and solid green indicates a full charge. Simultaneous red/green flashing can indicate low input voltage; alternating red/green can indicate excessive internal temperature. Refer to the manual for the complete status guide.

Can I add a Cellink extension battery?

The BAB-50 does not have a plug-in Cellink extension connection. Its manual describes a separate two-pack parallel installation with additional wiring and vehicle-current requirements. If you want a battery designed for a compatible plug-in extension and Bluetooth charge monitoring, compare our PowerCell 8.

What warranty applies to this pack?

These units receive an in-house 10-point functionality check. This pack has a 12-month BlackboxMyCar warranty and follows our normal warranty and returns policy.
