We recommend the DR970X-2CH Box Plus if you want the recorder tucked away from the cameras. A separate lockable box holds the memory card, while compact cameras record 4K ahead and Full HD behind. This kit has our 12-month warranty.

Keep recording hardware off the windshield

The separate recording box can sit inside the glovebox or beside the centre console. Its key-operated cover and screw-secured camera mounts help restrict access to the card and cable connections. They do not make the system theft-proof.

Plan a cable route from each camera to the box and leave room for its connectors. The included external GPS receiver connects to the recording unit for speed and location data.

Record the road, then review it your way

The front camera uses Sony STARVIS 2 and records 4K at 30FPS. The standard rear camera uses Sony STARVIS and records Full HD at 30FPS. Nearby phone access uses Wi-Fi, with Bluetooth available for pairing.

Remote BlackVue Cloud features need an internet connection and an appropriate service plan. The optional CM100G LTE module needs a compatible activated SIM and data plan; it is sold separately. Local card recording does not require that module.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the infrared cabin-camera version?

No. This kit contains a front camera and a standard rear-road camera. The rear camera has a 131° diagonal view; the separate IR version is a different configuration.

What power connection does parking recording need?

Use a suitable constant-power installation. The included hardwire cable supports ignition-triggered parking mode and configurable voltage and timer cutoffs. Our PowerCell 8 is a separate battery option with the correct camera output cable. Available charge, settings and temperature affect recording time.

How do the parking modes differ?

Motion-and-impact mode saves detected activity and impacts. Time lapse records 1FPS and saves impact events at normal speed. Set sensitivity for your surroundings and check sample recordings after installation.

Can I use it without a mobile data plan?

Yes. It records to its microSD card and connects locally to a nearby phone. Internet access is needed for remote Cloud features, and any LTE module needs its own compatible activated SIM and data service.

Is GPS built into the box?

No. A separate external GPS/GLONASS receiver is included. Connect it to the recording unit as shown in the manual.

What does the SOS button do?

The button triggers manual recording after it is paired with the recording box. It is included in this BlackboxMyCar package; it is not an emergency-services call button.

Can I reuse cables from another BlackVue?

Check exact cable and camera compatibility before routing an existing installation. The Plus-series compatibility guide in Resources explains supported power, coaxial video and camera combinations; older DR590-series analog video cables are different.

What warranty comes with the kit?

We test each unit through our in-house 10-point functionality check. This kit carries a 12-month BlackboxMyCar warranty and follows our normal warranty and returns policy.
