Does this camera record when I am parked?
Yes. The BlackVue DR590X-2CH comes with a hardwiring cable included. When installed, it enables Parking Mode, which monitors your vehicle for motion and impacts while the ignition is off. It also features built-in voltage protection to save your car battery.
What is the benefit of the Sony STARVIS sensor?
The sensor is designed for industrial and surveillance applications where low-light performance is critical. In a dashcam, this means significantly brighter and clearer video at night compared to standard sensors, helping you see details that might otherwise be lost in the dark.
Do I need to plug in the GPS receiver?
Yes. The GPS Receiver is an external unit that plugs into the side of the dash cam. It is required if you want to log your speed and location data on the video files. If you do not plug it in, the camera will still record video, but without speed/location stamps.
How do I view the videos?
You can view videos wirelessly on your smartphone using the BlackVue App (available for iOS and Android) via Wi-Fi. Alternatively, you can remove the microSD card and insert it into your computer using the included card reader to view files on the BlackVue Viewer desktop software.
Is this camera Cloud compatible?
No. The DR590X series is a simple, Wi-Fi-enabled dashcam and does not support BlackVue Cloud features (like Remote Live View). If you need Cloud connectivity, we recommend looking at the BlackVue DR770X or DR970X series.
Can I install it myself?
Yes. For a basic setup, you can use the cigarette lighter adapter. For Parking Mode, you will need to use the hardwiring cable to connect to your fuse box. We have many guides available at our Dash Cam Installation Hub.
