I need a good dash cam to also have cellular coverage, and have a very small footprint. ie not needing a MIFI adapter. the DR750 LTE model from Blackvue fit the bill easily. this was easily installed in my car, using blackboxmycar's videos and various FAQ's. Ordering online, I was really glad the unit arrived well package, and I was ready to start installing without any worries.
I purchased six of these dash cameras to use in my fleet of taxis. I had planned to purchase at least nine more. I still may, but as of now, those plans are on hold.
PROS: I am using the trial of the BlackVue fleet tracking service and it is excellent. It is wonderful to know where the vehicles are and where they are going, at what speed, and to be able to see the live feed from the cameras vía LTE. I can use the camera that is meant to be pointing behind the vehicle inside the vehicle instead. Unfortunately, if mounted on the windshield, the video is upside down. Blackvue should add a toggle to reverse the image horizontally, but it isn't there.
CONS: I use tablets to process credit card transactions, which also need LTE. I had the choice of going with LTE tablets and a Wi-Fi dash camera, or an LTE dash camera and a Wi-Fi tablet. I chose the latter. Unfortunately, Wi-Fi is automatically disconnecting every ten minutes. The product is advertised to allow one (1) device to connect vía Wi-Fi (to piggy back on the LTE) without any other restrictions. I can manually turn the Wi-Fi back on with a button on the side of the unit, but it still turns off after ten minutes. There is a setting in the app for Wi-Fi Auto Disconnect, which I presume is activated by default. The problem is that it is inaccessible as the toggle is grayed out.
I may end up returning all six, but am currently working with tech support. It is a five star camera othersie and I will happily update this review if the Wi-Fi issue can be definitively resolved.
Using it from September 19th and overall I like everything about this camera, it was my dream to have LTE live view! Finally! Used Thinkware Q800 Pro before, it was a good one, just no LTE! Setup was fast and easy, video quality is very good for 1080P, LTE works stable, using Rogers SIM, just got disconnected once for unknown reason and after restart got back to normal. A few things I have to say about some minor issues I experiencing with my camera: first thing is that in parking mode with motion and impact detection my camera is too sensitive, sensitivity switched to 1, the lowest option, and it still sends faulty alarms without any reason for that, tested for many times and confirmed with no activities. Another thing is that the camera should switch to parking mode after 5 min and in the most it does but sometimes it stays in normal or switching back from parking to normal for many times, and sure, the vehicle is parked, so no movement and G sensors at 4 from 10. Reported to BlackVue team. Hopefully a new firmware going to fix these minor issues. Or maybe it is just mine, let's see what other users saying. Still giving 5 star because of LTE! And sure, 5 stars again to BlackBoxMyCar team! Very prompt and professional help from everyone! Thanks a lot!
