Many models of Blackvue dash cams such as the DR650S-2CH will come with a plastic wrap to protect the device and keep it looking new during shipping. This helps to prevent scratches and fingerprints from showing up on the body of your device. Unfortunately, the plastic wrap also has an insulating effect and covers up the cooling vents on the device. By trapping in all this heat, the camera will be noticeably warmer and be more prone to errors like sensor discoloration and freezing.
As the Blackvue DR650S-2CH does not have a high temperature cutoff, the risk for damage is even greater. Leaving the plastic wrap on the dash cam may void the warranty as it may cause permanent physical damage to the camera.
